About us

There is a plethora of legislation and a maze of regulation and funding criteria to wade through to meet compliance obligations, win grants and secure development permissions.

BH Estates can take care of all aspects of rural estate and property management. We oversee planning and development. We run farms, historic estates and all types of rural property, including forestry and woodland. We can help you implement agricultural or renewable energy initiatives.

And we’re experts in residential, commercial and agricultural property sales, purchases and lettings too.

Our mission and values

BH Estates brings you a highly experienced team of Rural Chartered Surveyors regulated by RICS.  Our aim is to provide sound advice and rural business management solutions with your best interests always at the forefront of our thinking.

We recognise that every rural business faces their own specific challenges. As rural landowners ourselves, we are uniquely placed to see and understand those challenges, and to provide the right answers.

Our professional expertise is derived from a depth of grass roots knowledge, a wide range of industry qualifications, many years of collective experience, and a strong track record for delivering successful projects.

We pride ourselves in bringing new approaches and ideas to the changing rural landscape, and successfully helping to implement them.

We play an active consultancy, management or contracting role in a variety of projects involving public sector, private sector and governmental bodies.  In doing so, we have a valuable network of contacts and experts which covers all elements of rural land use, the food processor sector and associated supply chains.

Our history and experience

BH Estates has been in the business of rural estate management for over 90 years. From our head office base in Dundonald, just east of Belfast, we work with clients on some highly prestigious and innovative projects across the UK and Ireland.

We are well placed to provide our rural land and property management consultancy services because we run our own portfolio of agricultural, renewable energy and property related enterprises.

Our consultancy services cover management and advice across all types of rural land: agricultural, forestry and woodland, amenity land, public access and protected land of different categories such as rivers, lakes, and coastal areas.

Our work also includes Conacre negotiations – the licensing of small portions of land prepared for crops, silage or grazing – and longer term leases.

We manage a wide variety of commercial and residential lettings, including property management, as well as advising on holiday lets in England and Ireland and on a number of substantial, historic properties.

The management of renewable energy projects and rural enterprise developments are now a core part of many rural properties, and our business too. We have project managed the design, construction and accreditation of anaerobic digesters, wind, solar and biomass initiatives. We have also started and developed a premium food business and subsequently secured a £500,000 development grant.
